Experience/Background:I grew up playing basketball and soccer. In high school I began resistance training for both sports, while also running for the track team. At Michigan State I continued to lead an active lifestyle, and also developed an interest in mountain climbing. I have since reached 4 of the highest peaks in the country and look forward to my next big climb this summer in the Sierra Nevadas! Since making the move out of the corporate world, I have become a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (N.A.S.M.) and am also a graduate of the National Personal Training Institute (N.P.T.I.) where I spent 6 months studying exercise science, anatomy, nutrition and program design while also performing fitness assessments, postural analysis and training clients both one-on-one and in small groups.

Motivation: I am motivated by seeing you get results and develop good habits in the gym. If you are happy with the way you look and feel when you walk out of here, I am a happy trainer.

Expertise: Weight-loss, core training, strength training, circuit training, functional training

Philosophy: Fitness is a lifestyle. Simply put, “If you don’t use it, you lose it”. YOU have to make the decision that you are going to challenge yourself everyday to get a little bit better, a little bit stronger, a little bit faster……whatever your goals may be. As you start to see results, you will start to gain momentum, and with that comes confidence, more energy, a healthier lifestyle, and ultimately a stronger person both mentally and physically.

Certifications/Degree: National Personal Training Institute Certified Gravity? Certified

Experience/Background: I have taught/studied various forms of dance i.e.: ballet, modern, jazz, hip/hop and have danced professionally in Chicago for the last ten years. I also have three years of personal training and group fitness experience.

Motivation: Generally I am a pretty jovial and upbeat person and I do my best to infuse my workouts with the same sense of lightheartedness. However, I am all business and try to instill the attitude that we are here to work and that we can only make ourselves better by challenging the status quo. The only way to be good to our bodies is to work our bodies.

Expertise: Functional training with an emphasis on core fundamentals, balance, and grace. Improvement of coordination, strength, cardiovascular endurance, and muscle size while also focusing on correct postural alignment and flexibility. I am also great with small group and tandem training.

Philosophy: Fitness is about quality of life and there are so few things in this world that we actually have any control over. However, our bodies can be manipulated, trained, and taught to be better and last longer. Why not take advantage?

Motivation: I am motivated by friends, family, and especially my own clients. I love to watch fat melt off of people that I train and see them reach their goals. I am constantly trying to incorporate new movements and aspects of lifting in my day-to-day workout regimen and, of course, yours too! And I love Jillian Michaels from the Biggest Loser!

Expertise: My expertise is in dynamic and functional movements (similar to strength and conditioning programs). I like to incorporate kettle bells and Olympic lifts – such as power cleans and snatches, high intensity cardio, and agility moves -- to the workouts…great stuff you probably wouldn’t do on your own! I do full Health Assessments and Progress Assessments including body composition (body-fat) analysis, girth measurements and analysis, VO2 max, flexibility and strength testing, postural analysis, and body age. The body age comes from a combination of the measurements and it is the age you feel vs. the age that you actually are!

Philosophy: TRAIN HARD OR GO HOME! I give out tough love during training sessions but all of the sweating is worth it! All that I ask is that you try your hardest in the workouts and I can guarantee you will be satisfied with your results. I also like to have some FUN and LAUGH during workouts! We can’t take ourselves too seriously! I also like for the client to actively participate in the training by keeping exercise logs and food logs. I like for the clients to learn as much as possible about their body during and after my training sessions.
